IUMS Secretary General Discusses Scholars’ Role in Supporting the Ummah and Gaza with Sheikh Bin Dodo

On Saturday afternoon, August 2, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Sallabi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), received Sheikh Dr. Mohamed Salem Bin Dodo, a distinguished Mauritanian scholar, member of the IUMS, and former advisor to the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education in Mauritania.

The meeting, which lasted for nearly two hours, covered several important topics, foremost among them the issues facing the Muslim Ummah and the role of scholars in addressing these challenges. They also discussed the ongoing aggression and genocidal war in Gaza and Palestine, and the urgent duty to act in order to save and support the people there.

The two sides also reviewed the academic projects of the IUMS and its members, both collectively and individually, and discussed the current state of the religious and scholarly landscape in Mauritania and the Maghreb region.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed Salem Bin Dodo presented his personal academic project to the Secretary General, as part of the broader framework of scholarly and advocacy cooperation among the scholars of the Ummah.

This meeting comes as part of a series of ongoing engagements held by the Secretary General with scholars and intellectuals, in an effort to strengthen scientific and intellectual collaboration, and to unify efforts in serving the causes of the Ummah and supporting its revival.
