
The 45th Edition of the King Abdulaziz International Quran
Competition Kicks Off with 179 Contestants from 128 Countries
The
activities of the 45th edition of the King Abdulaziz International Competition
for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Quran continued, having started
on Saturday, August 9, 2025, within the precincts of the Grand Mosque in
Makkah, under the organization and supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic
Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.
The
competition witnesses the participation of 179 contestants from 128 countries
around the world, competing in five categories covering the fields of
memorization according to mutawatir readings, recitation, and interpretation,
at various levels ranging from memorizing the entire Quran, fifteen parts, and
five parts.
The
competition will continue until August 20, with total prizes amounting to four
million Saudi Riyals, including 500,000 Riyals awarded to the first-place
winner in the first category, reflecting the Kingdom’s strong support for
Quranic programs and serving the Book of Allah.
The
annual King Abdulaziz International Competition aims to gather an elite group
of Quran memorizers from around the world in the holiest place on earth, to
promote Quranic values of moderation and balance, spread goodness, and confront
intellectual deviations, thereby contributing to the consolidation of Islamic
and Quranic culture at both local and global levels.
