Under
the Supervision of the Union President… The Committee for Spiritual
Purification and Sharia Education Discusses the Global Charter for Tazkiyah
The Committee for
Spiritual Purification and Sharia Education at the International Union of
Muslim Scholars held an extended meeting to discuss the Global Charter for
Tazkiyah, with the participation of a distinguished group of scholars and
academics, including:
· His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi,
President of the Union
· H.E. Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Sallabi, Secretary-General of
the Union
· H.E. Prof. Dr. Ramadan Khamis, Head of the Committee
for Tazkiyah
· H.E. Prof. Dr. Noureddine Al-Khadimi, Member of the
Board of Trustees
· H.E. Prof. Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Majidi, Member of the
Union
The meeting was also
attended remotely by a number of committee members, researchers, and academics.
Prof. Dr. Ramadan
Khamis, Head of the Committee for Tazkiyah, affirmed that the Charter aims to
restore due consideration to the science of tazkiyah by addressing the
cognitive and methodological imbalance that historically resulted from the
separation between knowledge and spiritual purification. He emphasized the
centrality of integrating knowledge with practice, and investing in the الأمة’s
educational and Sufi heritage within a disciplined framework governed by Sharia
and scholarly standards, free from extremism or negligence, while taking into
account the objectives of religion and the needs of the modern age.
Discussions also
addressed the contemporary and practical dimensions of the Charter, in light of
what participants described as global attempts to produce religious models
detached from issues of justice, freedom, and societal dynamics. The
participants stressed that the Charter seeks to present a comprehensive vision
of tazkiyah that bridges authenticity and renewal, contributes to reviving
faith-based values, renewing educational discourse, and consolidating the
integration between Sharia sciences and their applied objectives within the
lived reality of the الأمة.
It is worth noting
that the Committee for Spiritual Purification and Sharia Education is one of
the committees of the Union, and is concerned with developing the sciences of
tazkiyah and Islamic education, and strengthening the integration between
Sharia knowledge and practical application.
