The General
Secretariat Charts the Next Phase, Strengthens Governance, and Expands
Institutional Impact
The General Secretariat of the
International Union of Muslim Scholars held its monthly meeting on Monday
evening, March 2, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. via video conference (Zoom), with the
participation of its members. The meeting was convened as part of ongoing
efforts to enhance institutional coordination and to follow up on the
implementation of operational plans for the upcoming phase.
The session commenced with a
recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, setting a spiritual tone for the
proceedings. This was followed by brief welcoming remarks delivered by the
session chair, Sheikh Dr. Fadl Murad, who greeted the participants and underscored
the importance of the meeting in unifying efforts and integrating roles in
service of the Union’s objectives and the mission of the Ummah.
His Excellency the
Secretary-General, Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Sallabi, also delivered a keynote
address outlining the features of the forthcoming phase. He emphasized the need
to elevate institutional performance, strengthen teamwork, and focus on strategic
priorities that advance the Union’s mission and broaden its scholarly,
advocacy, and media impact.
Sheikh Dr. Fadl Murad reviewed
the most significant decisions and recommendations issued by the Board of
Trustees during its most recent session, noting that steps have been taken to
implement and follow up on them. He also presented the plans of the various
committees, offering a summary of their proposed programs for the coming
period.
The meeting further examined the
plans of the Union’s branches across different countries, stressing the
importance of aligning them with the Union’s overall strategic framework.
Participants also revisited the
branch regulations previously discussed in earlier sessions. Organizational
observations aimed at further developing institutional performance within the
branches and strengthening governance were adopted.
The meeting addressed the most
pressing current issues and challenges facing the Ummah, with attendees
exchanging views on mechanisms for engagement and proposing a range of
practical initiatives to enhance the Union’s presence and proactive role in
priority matters.
The session concluded with
prayers for divine blessing upon the efforts undertaken and for success in
serving the Ummah and its causes.
