On Sunday, July 6, 2025, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), received Mr. Muhammad Nasser Al-Hazbi Al-Idrisi, Media Spokesman of the Association of Yemeni Scholars and Member of the Yemeni Parliament, at the Union's headquarters in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The meeting addressed the latest developments on the Yemeni scene, particularly regarding doctrinal, academic, and economic conditions, as well as the deep suffering experienced by the dear Yemeni people on various levels.

Both sides also discussed the challenges facing scholars and preachers amid ongoing violations, most notably the recent crime of the killing of Qur’an teacher Sheikh Saad Hantous (may Allah have mercy on him) in Ibb Governorate — a tragic incident that sparked wide outrage and once again highlighted the grave and systematic targeting of religious scholars.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Idrisi delivered an official letter from the Association of Yemeni Scholars to the Secretary General, calling on the IUMS to strengthen its support for the Yemeni cause, raise awareness about it among scholarly and human rights communities, and spotlight the violations threatening the religious and cultural identity of the Yemeni people.

For his part, the Secretary General expressed great appreciation for the vital role played by the Association of Yemeni Scholars in defending religious and societal principles. He reaffirmed the International Union of Muslim Scholars’ solidarity with oppressed peoples and its unwavering commitment to supporting just causes — foremost among them the protection of the Ummah’s identity, sanctities, and the rights of its peoples.
