The Imus Expresses Solidarity with Sheikh Ikrima Sabri and Calls on the Scholars of the Ummah to Stand with Him Against the Occupation’s Measures

The International Union of Muslim Scholars follows with deep concern the trial of His Eminence Sheikh Ikrima Sabri – the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, President of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, and a member of the Union’s Board of Trustees – which represents a serious precedent and a direct assault on religious authorities in Palestine.

While the Supreme Islamic Council, together with scholars, preachers, and religious institutions in Jerusalem, reiterates its call to religious and scholarly bodies worldwide to stand in solidarity with Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, the Union emphasizes that any attack on His Eminence constitutes an assault on all scholars of the Ummah, and targets one of the voices of truth that has never ceased defending Al-Aqsa Mosque and its Islamic identity.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri represents one of the main pillars of religious authority in Palestine, and any attempt to undermine him is essentially an attempt to silence the legitimate, free stance regarding the continuous violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque by the occupation.

Therefore, the Union calls upon the Islamic Ummah – particularly its leaders, scholars, scholarly bodies, and Islamic and human rights organizations worldwide – to support Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, express a unified stance rejecting these arbitrary measures, affirm the necessity of protecting scholars and preachers who fulfill their religious duty in defending the holy sites, and urges the immediate cessation of this trial.
