The
Union Concludes Scientific Course on “The Fundamentals of Developing Scholars”
with Broad Participation from Students and Preachers
On Saturday,
December 27, the scientific course organized by the International Union of
Muslim Scholars, represented by the Training Committee, concluded under the
title: “The Fundamentals of Developing Scholars”. The course was presented by
Dr. Saad Abdulrahman Al-Kubaisi, a member of the Union, associate professor,
member of international Sharia boards, and advisor to research centers.
The course spanned
two days, totaling approximately eight hours of training, and saw the
participation of more than 98 attendees, including professors, preachers, and
students of Islamic sciences, representing several countries from the Arab and
Islamic world, in a notable academic engagement.
During the course,
Dr. Al-Kubaisi reviewed over 570 principles of developing scholars. These
principles aimed to clarify general concepts and frameworks, methodological
foundations, and detailed maps for forming scholars at foundational, academic,
educational, pedagogical, and skill-based levels, using concise yet meaningful
expressions. The material served as a reference for students regarding the
principles of learning and acquisition, and for scholars regarding principles
of teaching and formation.
The course lecturer
explained that the principles of developing scholars were divided into five
main groups:
· Foundational Principles
· Scientific Principles
· Educational Principles
· Pedagogical Principles
· Skill-Based Principles
Each group comprises
several thematic packages, with each package containing a number of specific
principles.
Dr. Al-Kubaisi
clarified that these five groups represent the essential aspects that should be
built into the character of a student of Islamic sciences, noting that:
· Foundational Principles focus on essential reference
topics required for the student’s understanding, which should precede other
principles.
· Scientific Principles cover the main types of Islamic
sciences needed by the student.
· Educational Principles address curricula, methods of
reception and acquisition, and their components and obstacles.
· Pedagogical Principles deal with faith, ethics,
behavior, and ways to nurture the student both verbally and practically.
· Skill-Based Principles aim to develop the skills that
enhance the student’s mastery, effectiveness, and impact in their environment.
The lecturer pointed
out that despite this methodological division into groups and packages, the
principles are, in essence, interconnected, overlapping, and complementary in
the process of forming a student of Islamic sciences.
At the conclusion of
the course, an electronic copy of the book “The Fundamentals of Developing
Scholars”, authored by Dr. Saad Al-Kubaisi and containing over 500
methodological principles for developing scholars, was sent to all
participants. Certificates of participation will subsequently be issued to
those who attended and actively engaged throughout the course.
The course received
wide acclaim and praise from all participants for its valuable academic
content, clear explanations, insightful ideas, and distinguished presentation
style.
This activity is
part of the programs of the Training Committee, one of the committees under the
International Union of Muslim Scholars, chaired by Dr. Salem Al-Sheikhi, member
of the Union’s Board of Trustees.
