Developments in Al-Aqsa and Gaza
The Al-Quds and Palestine
Committee of the International Union of Muslim Scholars held its annual Ramadan
iftar in Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday, 9 Ramadan 1447 AH (27 February), with the
participation of a distinguished group of scholars, preachers, and experts
interested in Palestinian affairs. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the
latest developments in Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque, the West Bank, and the Gaza
Strip.
The session was opened by
committee chairman MP Dr. Marwan Abu Ras (Abu Aasem), who welcomed the
attendees and expressed his appreciation for their participation, emphasizing
the importance of unifying efforts and scholarly cooperation amid the delicate circumstances
surrounding the Palestinian cause.
He reviewed the latest
developments related to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the escalation of settlement activities
and Judaization efforts in the West Bank, as well as the ongoing conflict in
Gaza and its severe humanitarian repercussions.
The program included an
extensive dialogue session addressing political, field, and humanitarian
developments, during which participating scholars shared their perspectives and
practical proposals to enhance academic and media engagement with the Palestinian
issue and to coordinate initiatives that would strengthen impact and broaden
cooperation.
The participants stressed the
importance of continued communication and consultation among scholars and
relevant institutions in service of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and in
support of the resilience of the Palestinian people in all their areas of presence.
At the conclusion of the
meeting, it was agreed to establish a permanent communication group comprising
the participating scholars, aiming to enhance coordination, exchange
perspectives, and follow up on developments on an ongoing basis, contributing
to the development of practical steps in service of the Palestinian cause
during this critical stage.
