Return of Sports Activities for Islamic Religious Schools in
Singapore with the Participation of 2,500 Students
The
Muslim community in Singapore revived its student vibrancy on April 2, 2026, as
Woodlands Stadium hosted the closing ceremony and final of the 2026 Sports
Games for Islamic Religious Schools, with over 2,500 students participating, in
the presence of State Minister Rahayu Masam.
The
event saw the participation of the six major Islamic religious schools in
Singapore: Al-Junaid Islamic School, Al-Ma’arif Islamic School, Al-Saqqaf Arab
School, Irshad Zahri Islamic School, Arab Islamic School, and Waq Tanji Islamic
School, highlighting the close coordination between the country’s Islamic
educational institutions.
The
final came as the culmination of weeks of competitions held across multiple
sports venues, involving students from pre-university levels, ranging from
primary to secondary school. Students represented their schools in a series of
games and races that reflected their organizational skills and commitment.
Competitions
included indoor football, badminton, netball, archery, and track races, before
concluding with a grand final under the slogan: “Strength in Faith… Unity in
Play.”
This
event marks the first edition held since 2019, reflecting the growing focus on
activities that combine educational development with the institutional identity
of Islamic religious schools in Singapore.
