Jerusalem
and Palestine Committee Delegation Visits Turkish Umut Kervanı Foundation
In a step to enhance
humanitarian cooperation and support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,
a delegation from the Jerusalem and Palestine Committee of the International
Union of Muslim Scholars visited the Turkish Umut Kervanı Foundation (Umut Kervanı
Vakfı) on Monday, December 29, 2025. The delegation was led by Dr. Marwan Abu
Assem, accompanied by the Committee’s Director, Mr. Hamdi Abdelazim, and
coordinated with Dr. Suleiman Kezelsinar.
The delegation was
warmly received by the Foundation’s Chairman, Cengiz Kurtaran, and several of
his associates. The meeting included a cordial welcome for the Committee’s head
and members, and discussions focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and
ways to enhance support and aid.
During the meeting,
Dr. Marwan Abu Assem provided a detailed presentation on the humanitarian
situation in Gaza amid the ongoing war, highlighting the rising numbers of
martyrs and orphans, as well as the urgent needs for basic necessities
including food, healthcare, education, and shelter, stressing that the
situation remains extremely critical.
He also noted that
the so-called ceasefire has not been implemented on the ground, and that
Palestinians in Gaza continue to face ongoing destruction and killings, calling
for expanded humanitarian support for the steadfast Palestinian people.
Representatives of
the Turkish Foundation confirmed the continuation of their relief activities,
including food distribution, provision of tents, and basic aid, expressing
their willingness to support the humanitarian projects carried out by the
Committee in Gaza.
The visit also
addressed ways of cooperating on the “Brotherhood and Steadfastness” project,
which aims to support scholars and preachers in Gaza. The Foundation pledged to
provide the necessary assistance to ensure the project’s success.
The meeting
concluded with Dr. Marwan Abu Assem presenting the Foundation’s officials with
a commemorative model of the Dome of the Rock, in appreciation of the
Foundation’s humanitarian efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause.
