Chair of the Jerusalem and Palestine Committee of the Union Participates in "Gaza and Jerusalem" Iftar in Çanakkale, Turkey

Çanakkale – March 10, 2026

Professor Dr. Marwan Abu Ras, Chair of the Jerusalem and Palestine Committee at the International Union of Muslim Scholars, participated in the "Gaza and Jerusalem" Iftar organized by the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti (Association for the Dissemination of Knowledge) in the city of Çanakkale, Turkey (a coastal city and seaport in the Çanakkale Province on Turkey’s southern coast), at the kind invitation of the branch head, Dr. Nimatullah Akin.

The gathering, held at the association’s headquarters in a spiritually charged atmosphere of brotherhood and solidarity, witnessed significant attendance from academic elites, professors, scholars, business figures, as well as students and individuals concerned with the Palestinian cause. This reflected the deep emotional and societal connection that the issue of Jerusalem and Palestine holds in the hearts of the nation.

In his speech, Dr. Abu Ras addressed the critical developments affecting the holy city, focusing on the blockade imposed on the West Bank and highlighting the unprecedented closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque for more than ten consecutive days, describing it as a serious precedent. He also warned against ongoing attempts by the occupying forces to impose a new reality aimed at isolating the first Qibla from its Islamic and historical depth.

Dr. Abu Ras further reviewed the current field and humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the chapters of extermination and displacement have not ceased and that the suffering of the population continues amid what he described as legendary resilience against the machinery of destruction. He emphasized that both religious and humanitarian duty necessitate intensifying efforts to support Gaza and assist its people during this critical period.

The session concluded with an open discussion, during which Dr. Abu Ras responded to attendees’ questions and engaged with their interventions, before the gathering ended with a collective prayer for the steadfastness, victory, and empowerment of the Islamic nation and the people of Palestine.
