Gaza Tragedy:
Famine Claims the Lives of Over 900 Palestinian Martyrs Due to Hunger and
Malnutrition
The Ministry of Health in Gaza
has confirmed that more than 900 Palestinians — including 71 children — have
died from hunger and malnutrition, in addition to over 6,000 injuries among
those seeking food, since the beginning of the genocidal war waged by the
Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip.
In a new massacre on Sunday
morning, the occupation committed a horrific crime in the northwest of Gaza
City, resulting in the death of 54 civilians — 51 of whom were aid seekers —
and injuring around 60 others.
The Ministry of Health stated
that the occupation is using starvation as a deadly weapon, emphasizing that
children are dying of hunger in front of camera lenses.
It added that famine has
reached catastrophic levels, with over two million people suffering from severe
hunger due to the ongoing blockade on food and medical aid.
The ministry further explained
that the continued prevention of the entry of medicines and medical supplies
has led to a total collapse of the healthcare system.
An urgent appeal was issued to
the concerned authorities to pressure the occupation to allow the entry of
humanitarian aid, pointing out that the world has turned a deaf ear to the
cries of starving children.
In the same context, the
Director of the Network of NGOs in Gaza issued a distress call to help around
100 persons with disabilities in a shelter in Deir al-Balah, who are living in
dire conditions amid a complete lack of care and support.
Since October 7, 2023, the
Israeli occupation has been waging a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, which has
so far resulted in more than 198,000 martyrs and wounded — the majority of them
children and women — in addition to over 11,000 missing persons.
Palestinian and international
organizations have warned that the Strip is going through the worst stages of
famine due to the occupation’s deliberate starvation policy.
