Istanbul: Second Session of the Qur’anic Deductive Methodology
Course to Begin on Monday, Led by Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi
The
second session of the Qur’anic Deductive Methodology Course will commence on
Monday, August 11, 2025, delivered by His Eminence Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi,
President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), with the
participation of distinguished scholars, preachers, and students of Islamic
studies who attended the first session.
The
course is organized under the supervision of the International Union of Muslim
Scholars.
This
session continues an academic journey aimed at deepening reflection on the Holy
Qur’an and deriving its guidance according to the “Fiqh al-Mizan” methodology,
with a focus on two main themes: the comprehensive system of maqasid
(objectives of Sharia) and the principle of unrestricted public interests
(masalih mursalah).
The
three-day program will run from Monday to Wednesday, August 11–13, at the Omat
Foundation headquarters in Istanbul.
Renewing the Islamic Sciences
The
course is built upon over fifty years of scholarly and intellectual expertise
by Professor Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the IUMS.
He grew
up in a traditional scholarly environment, memorizing classical texts and
studying Sharia and Islamic economics, before earning his master’s and PhD
degrees in Sharia and law.
He also
taught at Qatar University, dedicating his efforts to understanding and
accurately applying Sharia texts.
Through
this extensive experience, he recognized the need to renew traditional Sharia
curricula, which often focus on partial interpretations without fostering a
comprehensive analytical mindset that meets the needs of the modern era. He
devoted more than fifteen years to authoring a scientific encyclopedia that
harmonizes authenticity with contemporary relevance.
It is
noteworthy that the first scientific session on “The Qur’anic Deductive
Methodology and Fiqh al-Mizan” was held from Monday to Wednesday, August 4–6,
at the Omat Foundation headquarters in Istanbul, Türkiye.
