Morocco: Protest Rally in Solidarity with Palestine and Condemning the Zionist Occupation’s Siege of Gaza

Dozens of Moroccans took part in a protest rally on Friday evening in the capital, Rabat, in solidarity with Palestine and in condemnation of the genocide and siege imposed by the Zionist occupation on the Gaza Strip.

The rally was called by the Action Group for Palestine, a non-governmental organization, and held in front of the Parliament building. Participants denounced the continued targeting of Palestinian civilians and the prevention of humanitarian aid from entering the besieged enclave.

Protesters pointed out that the limited humanitarian aid that has reached Gaza under the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Zionist occupation since October 10 has failed to end the famine or address its consequences, amid severe economic deterioration that hampers Palestinians’ ability to secure their basic needs.

Organizers said the rally came in response to a call by Hamas to organize weekly “angry” marches around the world in rejection of the ongoing genocide carried out by the Zionist occupation against civilians in Gaza.

Participants chanted slogans calling for continued support for the Palestinian cause and condemning the ongoing targeting of civilians, including: “O resistance, march with the flood until liberation,” “We are all Palestine,” and “We are all Gaza.” They also raised Palestinian flags and banners reading: “Against Zionist crimes… a year of solidarity and struggle,” “The Moroccan people stand with the unity of the nation against aggression… with the resistance until liberation and the overthrow of normalization,” and “Stop the genocide and starvation in Gaza.”

It is worth noting that the Zionist occupation, with U.S. support, launched a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip on October 8, 2023, resulting in the killing of around 72,000 Palestinians and the wounding of more than 171,000 others, most of them women and children. Approximately 90 percent of civilian infrastructure has also been destroyed.
