The International Union of Muslim Scholars Condemns the Violation of Qatar’s Sovereignty, Calls for an End to the Massacres in Gaza, and Welcomes the Halt of Aggression Against Iran

The International Union of Muslim Scholars Condemns the Violation of Qatar’s Sovereignty, Calls for an End to the Massacres in Gaza, and Welcomes the Halt of Aggression Against Iran

(Statement)

Amid the escalating tensions in the region, we welcome the announcement of a cessation of the Israeli aggression on Iranian territory, and we consider this a positive step toward de-escalation and sparing the peoples of the region further destruction and suffering.

In this context, we commend the effective diplomatic efforts of the State of Qatar in mediation and de-escalation, as well as its continued commitment to supporting just causes—foremost among them the Palestinian cause—and its tireless pursuit of saving lives, achieving calm, and protecting civilians.

However, these developments must not distract us from the fact that the Gaza Strip continues to endure a systematic campaign of genocide carried out by the Zionist occupation forces without deterrence—through killings, starvation, and destruction targeting children, women, the elderly, and defenseless civilians—amid a suffocating blockade and a shameful international silence.

We, at the International Union of Muslim Scholars:

-1Strongly condemn the missile attack that violated the sovereignty of the State of Qatar. We regard this as a blatant breach of the sovereignty of an independent state, a threat to the region’s security and stability, and a violation of international laws and norms. We equally condemn any act of aggression by Iran or any other entity against any Muslim country.

-2Call for the immediate and comprehensive cessation of the aggression against the Gaza Strip, which is suffering from a siege, starvation, and systematic destruction. We reiterate our call to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights—foremost among them the right to life, dignity, freedom, and the establishment of an independent state on the blessed land of Palestine.

-3Strongly denounce the crimes and violations committed by the Zionist occupation, including its attacks on peoples and states and its disregard for international conventions and UN resolutions. We call on the international community to take urgent action to put an end to this arrogance and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.

We ask Almighty Allah to protect our homelands and Muslim peoples from strife, aggression, and injustice; to spread peace and security across our Ummah; to guide its affairs with wisdom; to unite it upon truth; and to grant victory to the oppressed and vulnerable everywhere.
