Massive Demonstrations in Morocco and Yemen in Solidarity with
Gaza amid Siege and Starvation
Thousands
of Moroccans organized on Friday wide solidarity sit-ins and marches in support
of Gaza, during which they called on scholars to bear their historical
responsibilities and support the Palestinian cause. At the same time, the
Yemeni capital Sanaa and other cities witnessed large demonstrations rejecting
the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In
Morocco, the Moroccan Commission for Supporting the Causes of the Ummah, a
non-governmental organization, called for 95 demonstrations across 58 cities
nationwide to express rejection of the suffocating siege imposed by the Zionist
occupation on the Gaza Strip.
Participants
in the sit-ins, according to the commission’s statement, condemned the policy
of systematic starvation and killing targeting Palestinian civilians,
describing it as the largest genocide in contemporary history.
The
demonstrators also denounced “the silence of scholars in the face of ongoing
massacres and killings during aid distribution in what has become known as
‘death traps,’” demanding that they take on their leading role in supporting
the Palestinian people.
Major
cities that witnessed large demonstrations included Casablanca, El Jadida,
Rabat, Agadir, Berkane, and Oujda, where participants raised slogans expressing
their unwavering support for Gaza under the banner “Supporting Dignified
Gaza... The Duty of Scholars First” during the 88th Friday of Al-Aqsa Flood.
In
Yemen, thousands of citizens participated in a massive demonstration in the
capital Sanaa under the slogan “Steadfast with Gaza... Our readiness is high to
face all enemies’ conspiracies,” raising Yemeni and Palestinian flags alongside
banners calling for an end to the aggression and denouncing the complicit
international silence.
The
demonstrators chanted slogans reflecting the depth of Yemen’s steadfast
position, such as: “As long as God is our Protector... We will never abandon
Gaza,” affirming their full solidarity with their brothers in Gaza in facing
the Zionist aggression.
Similar
demonstrations condemning the aggression and demanding support for the
Palestinian people took place in several other Yemeni provinces, including Al
Hudaydah, Saada, Taiz, and Al Dhale’e.
It is
worth noting that since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has been facing the
worst humanitarian crisis in its history, as the Zionist occupation combines
systematic starvation with a U.S.-backed genocide campaign, ignoring all
international appeals and orders. This has resulted in the deaths of more than
61,000 Palestinian civilians and 152,000 injured, in addition to hundreds of
thousands displaced and a severe famine crisis that has claimed thousands of
victims, including dozens of children.
