Mauritania’s
Scholars Training Center Organizes an Honorary Academic Gathering in Honor of
His Eminence Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi, President of the Union
The Scholars
Training Center in Mauritania organized, on Thursday evening, January 1, 2026,
a distinguished honorary academic gathering attended by a select group of the
Center’s students and faculty members. The event was held in tribute to and
celebration of the guest of the Land of Chinguetti, His Eminence Sheikh
Professor Dr. Ali Muhyi Al-Din Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International
Union of Muslim Scholars, along with the accompanying delegation.
The gathering was
also attended by His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hassan Al-Dedew, Vice
President of the Union and President of the Scholars Training Center, in
addition to the Center’s Director General, its administration, a number of
leading scholars, and the Center’s students and professors, all in a
distinguished academic and fraternal atmosphere.
The event took place
in a spiritual, brotherly, and faith-filled setting, during an evening
gathering under the moonlight. Attendees expressed their deep appreciation for
the honored guest through the recitation of poetry and Islamic chants praising
him, highlighting his scholarly stature, and recalling his honorable stances
and outstanding efforts in championing the causes of the Ummah and serving
Islamic Sharia.
At the conclusion of
the gathering, His Eminence Sheikh Ali Muhyi Al-Din Al-Qaradaghi delivered a
valuable scholarly lecture entitled “Collective Ijtihad”, in which he addressed
Sharia, its methodology, and its framework. He underscored the importance of
collective ijtihad in addressing contemporary issues, presenting a number of
profound scholarly insights and methodological benefits. He also spoke about
the academic and intellectual efforts embodied in his book “Al-Manhaj”, and the
foundational perspectives it offers that contribute to guiding contemporary
Islamic thought.
It is worth noting
that this lecture came as a continuation of a previous lecture with which His
Eminence had honored the Center’s students and faculty, reflecting his ongoing
scholarly engagement, his commitment to supporting institutions of Islamic education,
and his dedication to strengthening pathways of sound scholarly grounding and
prudent ijtihad.
