Doha: Union
President Receives Kashmiri Information Minister to Discuss Ummah Issues
Doha – His Eminence Sheikh Prof.
Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim
Scholars (IUMS), received on Monday afternoon the Kashmiri Minister of
Information, Sheikh Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah Molana, in the presence of his
assistant.
At the outset of the meeting,
the Minister expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Union
President for the warm reception. He stressed the importance of Muslim unity
amid the challenges facing the Ummah, noting that numerous critical issues require
an active role from scholars in serving the causes of the Ummah, unifying its
ranks, and strengthening solidarity among Muslims.
For his part, the Union
President welcomed the Minister, affirming that the issues of the Islamic Ummah
and Muslim minorities—particularly the Muslims of Kashmir—are a top priority
for the Union and will continue to be reflected in its positions and official
statements.
He explained that this
commitment is evident in the final statement of the sixth meeting of the
Union’s Board of Trustees, which strongly condemned the persecution faced by
Muslim minorities, with particular emphasis on the Kashmir issue.
Al-Qaradaghi also noted that the
Union maintains positive relations and active communication with a number of
Islamic countries, and seeks to leverage these ties to support the causes of
the Ummah and enhance cooperation among scholars and religious institutions
worldwide.
Highlighting the Union’s
activities, the President stated that, in cooperation with the Islamic Scholars
Endowment in Turkey, the Union held a conference in August 2025 titled “Gaza:
An Islamic and Humanitarian Responsibility.”
The conference resulted in a set
of initiatives and projects that were presented to Turkish President Recep
Tayyip Erdoğan during a meeting with a number of participating scholars. Among
the most prominent proposals was the establishment of an Islamic economic,
political, and military alliance among major Islamic countries to strengthen
cooperation and unity.
The meeting, which lasted over
an hour, reflected a convergence of views between the Union President and the
Kashmiri Minister on the issues facing the Ummah, the importance of Muslim
unity, and the role of scholars as well as media and religious institutions in
raising awareness and defending the legitimate rights of the Islamic Ummah.
At the conclusion of the
meeting, the Kashmiri Minister extended an official invitation to the Union
President to attend an international conference on Ummah-related issues,
scheduled to be held next April.
It is worth noting that the
Union President presented the Minister with the Union’s shield in appreciation
and recognition of him and the people of Kashmir.
